Get started with OCR in Chrome
Install the extension, open the side panel, and copy text from your first image.
1. Install and pin
Add Img to Txt - OCR & Image Text Extractor from the Chrome Web Store. Open the Extensions menu and pin the icon so the side panel is one click away.
2. Open the side panel
Click the toolbar icon. The OCR panel opens beside your current tab.
3. Choose how to capture
- Select an area on the page for visible text, or
- Drop or paste a PNG or JPEG from your desktop or clipboard.
4. Set the OCR language
Pick the language of the text or leave Auto when the page mixes scripts. The first run for a new language may download data once.
5. Copy or save
When recognition finishes, copy the text, download a .txt file, or translate if you need another language.
If Chrome blocks capture on a restricted page, save the image locally and drop it into the panel instead.
