Img to Txt - OCR & Image Text Extractor is a Chrome extension that extracts text from images using on-device OCR. This policy describes what the extension and product website collect and what stays on your device.
OCR and images
When you select an area, drop a file, or paste an image, recognition is designed to run in your browser after required language data is available locally. The extension does not need you to upload the image to our servers for the default OCR path.
Optional features (such as online translation fallbacks) may send recognized text to a third-party translation service when you choose translate and no on-device model is available. They do not need to send the original image for that path.
Local history (when enabled) stores recent results in browser storage on your device. You can clear history inside the extension or remove extension data in Chrome settings.
Language pack downloads
The first time you use a language, the extension may download OCR models (typically tens of megabytes). Those files are cached for later sessions. Updates may trigger additional downloads.
Website analytics
Product pages on imgtotxtocrimagetextextractor.extsite.tech use Umami analytics hosted at umami.extsite.tech. Umami receives page URLs, referrer, browser type, approximate geography, and labeled events (such as install clicks). Website analytics do not receive image pixels, recognized text, or OCR history from the extension.
Error reporting
When enabled in a build, anonymized error events may be sent to GlitchTip at glitchtip.extsite.tech to improve stability. Reports are scoped to extension errors and diagnostic tags—not to the text you recognized or page content from other sites.
Uninstall and feedback forms
If you uninstall the extension, Chrome may open a survey at feedback.extsite.tech with a product identifier (?ext=imgtotxtocrimagetextextractor). Loyalty feedback may open features.extsite.tech with the same identifier. Those forms are operated separately; do not paste secrets or personal data you do not want to share.
Permissions (summary)
The extension requests Chrome capabilities needed for the side panel, storage, area capture, clipboard output, and optional telemetry hosts declared in the manifest. Host access supports user-started capture on pages where Chrome allows it; the extension is not designed to read unrelated browsing history in the background.
